REBLOG if you want Alaska to be America’s Next Drag Superstar!

Throwback Thursday! 50 weeks ago J and i went to see Mr. Oizo at The Roxy. It was Leap Day and I ate a tuna sandwich before the show. It totally gave me diarrhea and I had to keep running to the bathroom with the shits the entire time. Turns out Leap Day is just like any other day I eat tuna…

RiffTrax Live PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE plays in a many a movie theater across the USA tonight!   Please see it if you’ve never had a chance, it’s a fun one.
Disclaimer: it is technically not a LIVE show, since it’s a rebroadcast of our first simulcast theater show in August 2009.  But it was live when we recorded it, unlike so many things these days, what with their being filmed in some phantom no-time that is somehow not the present.  Tsk!
Since it was our first live show for Fathom events, it was a brand-new experiment.  (Watch us awkwardly figure it out!)  Some stuff has changed since then in the way we approach these shows.  E.g. we no longer SIT DOWN to riff now, and looking back it seems kinda lazy and enervating.  What the hell, Past Us?!
We also had someone hosting the PLAN 9 event, the excellent and charming and super-nice Veronica Belmont, who (in retrospect) we didn’t give enough to do.  Afterwards we decided that hosts weren’t really needed for the show, though it was no fault of Veronica’s. It was ours, and (somehow) society’s.
We also had the good sense to invite Jonathan Coulton as a musical guest, and he was as great and funny and whip-smart as always, back in those innocent days before GLEE went vampire on him.
And PLAN 9 itself is wonderful, great fodder for that thing we do.  Ed Wood at his bestest worst!  So you have time tonight and want some laughs (637 laughs, precisely), please give it a spin.
